Blessed Beyond Measure

I am blessed beyond measure! That is how Christ has affected me. Above and beyond more than I could ever dream or imagine!

In Ephesians 3:20-21, Paul makes it clear, He not only blesses us but it exceeds our expectations.

Ephesians 3:20-21 “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.”

  1. Who blesses us?

It is God who is able to bless us, we absolutely have no power to bless ourselves. He is able because he is God. The all-powerful one who spoke the world into existence. The one who holds everything in place with no effort at all. The one who chose us. We could not come to him unless he draws us to himself.

John 6:44 “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.”

We who were his enemies became his sons and daughters. He now presents us to His Father holy and unblameable. The commentator Albert Barnes says it this way. “The whole work had reference to the glories of that day when the Redeemer and the redeemed will stand before God, and he shall present them to his Father as completely recovered from the ruins of the fall.”

Colossians 1:21-22 “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled. In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:”

We become His righteousness!

II Corinthians 5:21 “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

We don’t have to worry about what will happen to us after death. We know he has gone to prepare a place for us. We don’t have to guess about anything!

I John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

Already we see that we are abundantly blessed beyond anything we could ever think or dream of. We are chosen, forgiven, made righteous, and given a home beyond this life. Not a hope so, but a “know so” home!

  1. He blesses us by caring about the little things in our life while we are here.

In Matthew 6:25-30, Jesus is speaking and relates how he cares for the birds of the field. If he can feed the fowls of the air, which are not made in his image, how much more does he care for us? There is no reason for us to worry at all! When we worry we are doubting God.

Matthew 6:25-30 “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

  1. He blesses us by hearing us.

Have you ever had a conversation with someone and when you finished talking, you realized they were not listening? They were in their own zone and didn’t hear you. God is not like that. In Philippians 4:6 we are to take our request to him. Not that he doesn’t know them, but he does require us to bring them to him. “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” He will not only hear our request, but he will honor them according to His perfect will for our life.

I John 5:14 “Now this is the confidence we have in him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”

  1. He also blesses by giving the Holy Spirit to dwell within.

No matter what we go through in life we have the Holy Spirit inside of us to comfort, guide, and empower us.

John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;”

John 16:13 “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come”.

Act 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

We are God’s children and through Christ, we can overcome the world. He is able to bless, and he blesses us by choosing us, by placing Christ’s righteousness on our account, and by assuring us of our eternal destiny.  He blesses us by caring about every detail of our lives and taking care of all our needs. He blesses us by listening to us. He is always there to hear our prayers. He blesses us by dwelling within us. In 1 John 4:4, we are told that greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world! What more could we ask for? It is up to us to tap into these marvelous blessings, to recognize that they are there. We are blessed beyond measure and there are no words that can fully convey what we have in Christ. As I write my mind is searching for words to express what I feel, and as I grapple for the proper expression, nothing is enough! All I can say is praise be to God!
