Salvation

If you are reading this and you do not know for sure that you are saved I pray these verses will lead you to that assurance.

You may think you are a good person, and by the world’s standard you may be, but we will not be judged at the end of our life by the world, but by God. Therefore, we need to know God’s prescription for eternal life.

  1. Admit that we are a sinner. Romans 3:23   – “for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Romans 3:10   – As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;

Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

None of us are good enough on our own to satisfy the righteousness of a Holy God. When Adam sinned all mankind from that day forward would inherit a sin nature. No sin will be in Heaven. However, God loved us so much that he was willing to make a way for our sin debt to be paid by giving his Son, the righteous one, to pay the debt for us.

  1. Adam put us in a situation of eternal death, but God extends the promise of eternal life. Romans 6:23 ” For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

3.  You may ask, “After what I’ve done to disobey God how could he ever forgive me and give his only Son to die in my place?” It is because of his love for you. He created you and he longs to have a relationship with you and to spend eternity with you, but he gives you the choice. He did not create us to be robots he wants us to choose him, just as he chose us! He gives us a free will to choose or reject.

Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth (demonstrated) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

  1. You can never be saved by trying to be a good person, nor can you be  saved through any amount of “good works.”

Ephesians 2:8,9  “For by grace have you been saved by faith. And that, not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works. Lest any man should boast.”

  1. You and I can be saved only by confessing our sins and placing our faith in God’s  son, Jesus Christ who died and paid for our sins on the cross. We must also surrender our life to His lordship… placing him in charge of every area of our life because we now belong to him.

Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:10 “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

  1. How do I know he heard me and accepted me?

Romans 10:13 ” For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

God is not a liar if he said he will do something you can rest assured he will do it. Believe his word and trust him!
