My God Is Faithful

Just saying those words fills my heart with delight. It’s early in the morning as I write this, and the dawn is breaking with abundant color over the lake. It’s a reminder that God was faithful to give me another day. It’s another opportunity to love Him, serve Him, and tell others about Him. At this moment, there is nothing to pull me away from my thoughts about Him. Yet, there is nothing that can pull Him away from thinking about me! That is hard for us to fathom because everything we deal with is finite. It has limits, there is a beginning and an end, but my God has neither.  Psalm 139:7-12 teaches me that there is nowhere that I can be where He is not with me. My God is faithful to be with me wherever I go.

Psalm 139:7-12 “Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.”

My God is faithful to forgive. So many times, in life we mess up, and people remember it seemingly forever, but not my God. When I gave my heart to Him and repented of my sins, He came to dwell within me and gave me the promise that if I would confess my sins and forsake them, He would forgive them.

I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

He is faithful not only to forgive, but He chooses to forget. This does not mean that my God has a lapse of memory, it means He chooses not to hold it against me. The three verses below teach me of His faithfulness regarding my past.

Hebrews 8:12 “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.”

Isaiah 43:25 “I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.”

Psalm 103:12 “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”

My God is faithful to take care of me. He has promised to meet my needs if I will call on Him. Don’t misunderstand me, many things we pray for are wants, not needs. God knows exactly what we need, and He will not fail to provide what we need.

Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Matthew 6:31-33 “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

My God is faithful! He keeps His word. He has made a covenant to those who have repented of their sins, love Him, and serve Him. He has promised to be faithful in His mercy toward us, and He has promised to be faithful in loving us.

Deuteronomy 7:9 “Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

When I think of the faithfulness of my God, there are not enough pages to hold the words that are running through my mind. My God is always faithful to me. He forgives, He is always with me, He will always meet my needs, and He will take care of me. Yes, He is my God, and I will exalt Him and praise Him, until the day He fulfills the final faithful promise of taking me home to live forever with Him. He’s my personal God, but He can be yours too!

Isaiah 25:1 “O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.”
