There is something about the term “my” that changes our total perspective on a situation. One of the first things toddlers learn to say is “mine.” We all put our stamp of ownership on the things we value. When we have children, we want everyone to know they are ours. When we describe our places of residence we say “my” home. There is a security in ownership that causes us to want to pull our things close to us. We seem to do that with almost everything we are involved in, our jobs, our family, our church, our possessions, and our activities such as “my team.” However, I rarely hear anyone say that about their relationship with Jesus. The most important aspect of our lives doesn’t seem to get that label. Yet, if He is your Savior, and your Lord He is yours to possess. We should view the King of Kings as my Jesus.
While He is the Master of everything, my Jesus is personal with me. He gave Himself to be the sacrifice for my sins because He was the only one worthy, the only one perfect to pay the price. A price that must be paid for us to have eternal life in Heaven. He did it for me as if I would have been the only one. That is the kind of love my Jesus has for me.
Hebrews 10:10-12 “And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,”
My Jesus wants to bear my burdens. In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus is giving an invitation to me to come to Him and to lay my burdens upon Him. He wants to teach us, and He does it gently. He wants to give us rest in Him. That is my Jesus.
Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
My Jesus listens and understands my thoughts and desires like no one else. He assures us that He will hear us when we cry out to Him. He never turns us away when we come with a repentant heart or a broken heart.
I John 5:14-15 “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”
My Jesus takes care of my needs. He doesn’t say He will take care of all my wants, but He goes far beyond what I truly need, and pours out abundant blessings that are far too magnificent for me to comprehend. In Ephesians 3:20 my Jesus answers my prayers above and beyond to the extent I can’t express it.
Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Ephesians 3:20 “Now unto him, that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”
My Jesus is always there for me. My Jesus’ love is stronger and purer even than all ties of kindred. There is no ulterior motive in His love and no selfish desires. It is pure unadulterated love. It is love that loved us more than His own comfort. It is a love that willingly suffers for my betterment.
John 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
If you ask about my Jesus I will tell you there is nothing about Him that is not yielded to my best interest. He loves unconditionally. My Jesus serves without any thought as to what it will cost Him. My Jesus gives and never takes. My Jesus fills me with joy unspeakable, He gives peace within my soul that calms the roughest of times. He is always within me, and I am assured of His ever-present love for me. Nothing can compare to my Jesus. He is mine for now and for all eternity. Yes, this Jesus is mine!
If you don’t know my Jesus, you need to. He offers Himself to you the same way He offered Himself to me and you too can have Him as your own. All He asks is for you to repent of your sins, believe in Him, and receive Him as your Lord and Savior. It sounds simple because it is, but my Jesus gives you the choice. He will not force Himself on anyone.
