My Jesus I Love Thee

My Jesus I love Thee is the title of a song that I love! It always causes me to think of not only how much I love Him, but how much He loves me. The first line of the song gives us a great truth, “I know thou art mine.” I am so thankful I know Jesus is mine. I do not have a “hope-so” salvation, I have a “know-so” salvation. I do not have to worry when I go to sleep if I will wake up in Heaven or Hell. I know as Paul said in II Timothy 1:12, “I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” I have no doubt about my eternity as long as I believe in the one who gave His life for me.

II Timothy 1:12 “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless, I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”

My Jesus, I love thee because you first loved me. When I was a sinner, living a life against God and His holiness, God loved me with an everlasting love. God made a plan to redeem me, and Jesus was obedient to the plan because He loved me. He demonstrated His love for me, not just in words, but in vivid actions. Jesus himself said it best in John 3:16-17. God loved, and God gave, so that we could spend eternity with Him.

I John 4:19 “We love him because he first loved us.”

Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth (demonstrated) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

My Jesus, I love thee because you went back to Heaven to prepare a place for me, and you are coming again. After He rose from the grave the disciples were ecstatic, and rightfully so, their friend, Master, teacher, and Lord, was with them again in bodily form. He was alive and proved He has power over death. Now He would ascend back to Heaven so the Holy Spirit could be sent. This would allow believers all over the world to have His Spirit dwell within each of them, all at the same time. He tells His disciples He will be leaving but He is going to prepare a place for them and will return take them to Heaven.

John 14:2-3 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

My Jesus, I love thee in life and in death. I have no other plans. It is settled, I love thee. There is no other that can or will take your place. I am determined to cling to you in life. No matter what comes my way you are my rock. No matter if the world hates me I know you love me with an everlasting love. I love you in life because you are my comfort, my joy, my provider, and my healer. You understand me like no other. You know everything about me, yet you still love me. Your love heals my broken heart and soothes my weary soul. I will love you in death because of all you have done for me and because of what I have waiting for me. I know I will spend eternity with my Jesus.

I Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”

Psalm 139:1-4  O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

Psalm 23:6  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

My Jesus, I love thee and there are not enough words to describe the amount of my love, or the quality of my love for you. The only way I can prove my love to you and to a lost world is to live out your commands in obedience and demonstrate your love to others.
