Have you ever felt like all your strength was gone? Sometimes we get so weary we want to give up because it seems like we have nothing left to give. Hang on my friend, there is a source that is able to empower you!
How do we achieve this incredible, indescribable, unmatched strength? First, we must realize it is not of ourselves. Our bodies grow weary and our resolve will weaken when we depend on ourselves. What is our source? If you want power, you tap into the one whose power is never weak. With Christ supplying the strength and wisdom you can be successful. Hands down you can do all that God intends for you in His will.
Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
In Joshua 1:9 we are commanded to be strong to have courage and not fear. He even challenges us to not be dismayed. I looked up what dismayed meant in this particular verse. One of the explanations was to tremble inwardly. This is a place where we have all been at some point, but as we grow in the Lord this feeling and attitude should become less and less. How, because of the realization that wherever you go He is with you. Learning to truly trust in the Lord with all your heart calms your soul and gives us strength. He powerfully strengthens us and gives us abundant strength to bear our trials and to perform our duties so that he will be glorified.
Joshua 1:9 “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
In Ephesians 3:14-16 Paul is reminding his readers that he bows on his knees and prays that God would grant them their desires according to his riches. That is awesome because God’s riches are above anything that we could ever think! He prays that their inner man would be strengthened by the power of the Spirit.
Ephesians 3:14-16 “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;”
God wants us to be confident in the strength we have because of him. He will and can empower us to do his will. In Numbers 13 God had given instructions for 12 spies to check out the land of Canaan. God had promised His people the land. We see 10 of the spies were discouraged and would not commit to following God’s plan. They were looking at the task through their own strength. However, Joshua and Caleb saw the land as great and believed God was going to give them strength to take the land. They were excited to see what God would do.
Numbers 13:30 “But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.”
Our purpose in God strengthening us is so that we can be a great witness to the world. Our enemies will know, our friends will know, and our family will know of a God that strengthens His children. Others will see our resolve and know our Lord God.
Psalm 71:16 “I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.”
For those of us who are followers of Jesus Christ, we can know that He is our strength. We can have a great boldness to approach life’s problems and situations with an assurance that we can handle them successfully. This boldness does not come from pride or confidence in ourselves, but because we belong to Jesus and he is our strength.
