What He Has Done

A few years ago, a song came out titled “What He’s Done.” It speaks about all that Jesus has done to secure Heaven for us. Today I want us to think further back to the beginning of creation. To see what this triune God has done for us. The all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-present God. This is not a god whose bones are lying in a grave somewhere. He is not a god that stems from someone’s imagination. He is the perfect One whom we cannot fully understand or comprehend. Our minds are finite, and He is infinite. Yet, He has given us His word and sent His Son in the form of a man to reveal Himself to us. Through His word, we can get a picture of what He has done and will do for us.

First, He created the world. In Genesis 1:1 we have the foundation for everything in the bible. It shows the power and sovereignty of an all-mighty God. He knew He would create mankind on the 6th day and He created a perfect world to live in before He placed man into the world. Nothing was left undone to have a perfect world.

Genesis 1:1  “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Second, after Adam and Eve sinned all of mankind inherited that sinful nature. Because God is holy, He cannot be in the presence of sin. Yet, before the foundation of the world, He knew what would happen and He made a plan for our redemption. From the beginning, He loved us enough to have a plan in place so that we could spend eternity with Him.

Ephesians 1:4 “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:”

I Peter 1:20 “Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.”

Third, because of the depravity of mankind and the holiness of God, there was no way for us to enter into the presence of God. Sin had to be paid for, and it must be paid by someone who knew no sin. Since man committed the sin, man must pay the price for the sin. This was fulfilled in His Son Jesus. He sent Him to earth to take on flesh and become a man.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

II Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

Fourth, when Jesus went back to Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father, He became my advocate in Heaven. In I John 2:1 he is our heavenly lawyer speaking to the Father on our behalf.  In Romans 8:34 and Hebrews 7:25, He intercedes for us taking our prayers to the Father.

I John 2:1 “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

Romans 8:34 “Who is he that condemned? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.”

Hebrews 7:25 “Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever lives to make intercession for them.

Fifth, when Jesus went back to Heaven, He did not leave us without comfort. In John 16:7 He tells His disciples that it is expedient, or needful for Him to leave so the Holy Spirit can come. As long as Jesus was on earth, He could only be in one place at a time. With Him sending His Spirit, the Holy Spirit all believers can experience His indwelling all the time. The Holy Spirit does many things for us.  He is the Spirit of truth and He convicts us of sin in our lives. He comforts us and guides us to the truth. He gives us our spiritual gifts and will enable us to use them. He enables us to pray when we don’t know what to pray. In Romans 8:26 the Holy Spirit knows our hearts and takes our prayers to the Father when we don’t know what to say. He enlightens us and helps us to understand the Bible.

John 16:7 “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.”

John 15:26 “But when the Comforter comes, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeded from the Father, he shall testify of me:”

Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

Sixth, He has prepared a home in Heaven for us when this life is over. When the Father says go, Jesus will come and get us and take us to Heaven. He has promised a life with Him forever.

John 14:2-3  In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

I could go on and on, but I think you understand. God left nothing to chance, nor did He forget to do anything in this life or the life hereafter that we would need. He has supplied all our needs and many of our wants. He gave us the most precious gift when He gave His Son’s life for ours. What has He done? As Ephesians 3:20 states, He has done exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or think. That is what God has done and is doing for us and in us.

Ephesians 3:20-21  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
