Today the word truth seems to be totally misunderstood. The catchphrase is “what is your truth.” The word truth itself has been mishandled in our world today. Many believe they can create their own truth but what they are creating is their own lie. Lies can be different, but the truth is the truth, and it never changes. God is the author of truth, and we cannot change what God has deemed as the truth. The truth is universal, proven by evidence and it is unchanging. We cannot own the truth or deem it as truth just because we believe it. In a court of law, your opinion is not important, all the courts want is “the truth and nothing but the truth.” They are not looking for the truth according to your understanding, but the reality of what you saw or heard.
In Psalms 25:10, all the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth. There is nothing about the Lord that is false.
Psalm 25:10 “All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.”
The opposite of the truth is a lie. In Titus 1:2, we find a very simple, but profound statement that affects everything and everyone. The truth is that God cannot lie! It is his nature to always speak the truth. He established truth. This fact should be of great comfort to each of us. He is our hope for eternal life. Every word from Him is truth and we can trust all of it. The truth of His presence is promised in Hebrews 13:5. He will always be there for us and never leave us. In John 9:31 He hears the prayers of those who are His. In John 14:2-3, Jesus assures us that He is now preparing a place for those who have surrendered their lives to Him, and one day He will come back to receive us to Himself, and we will live forever with Him. I could go on and on about the truths God has stated in His word. No matter how many verses we look at, the fact remains that God is truth and in Him is no lie. When we say we want others to know our truth we are embarking on a path that unconsciously makes ourselves our own God. We cannot establish truth, but we can live by the truths God has declared.
Titus 1:2 “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;”
Hebrews 13:5 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
John 9:31 “Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.”
John 14:2-3 “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
It is a great comfort to me to know that the God of the Universe will always speak the truth. No matter what the circumstances, or how my mind thinks it can solve the problems of this world, I know God has the answer and He can be trusted. He is the foundation of all my hopes for my future and He never changes. In John 14:6, we see that Jesus is the truth. He is the personification of truth in human form. He is truth and as creator, He established truth before creation. I can trust Him completely. Nothing catches Him by surprise, and nothing can change Him. He is always in my corner and because of that,
I can face the future with confidence that all things will work to my ultimate benefit.
Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
So, when someone asks you “what is your truth,” tell them it’s Jesus, for He is the way, truth, and life. He is the personification of truth in human flesh. There is none like Him and never will be. He is God in the flesh, and He is truth.
John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
